3. Historical Views of Vietnam War

The country of Vietnam was split into two sections in the year of 1954. There was the communist north, and there was the democratic south. The United States of America is known as a country to fight against communism. So America gets involved. America has always been a supporter of the democratic side of any country because we want to keep communism from spreading. Supposedly on top of fighting for our belief, we were attacked. IN the year of 1965, we sent over 40,000 troops to Vietnam.
Back then, the average man and woman to get drafted was around the age of 23. There was an average of 2.5 million who served in the war. Most of the people who were killed were from north Vietnam. The country of America hit a tremendous amount of debt that rose to an estimate of about $146 billion. While we continued our debt, the soldiers announced that they were honored to serve in the war and would do it over if given a chance.
This was said because we have a tremendous outreach to stopping communism. The country of Vietnam was destroyed. Still to this day, there is communism and plenty of homeless people that have no place to go. There is no more north and south Vietnam because they have come together as one, but that does not mean communist still does not exist.
