5. Character Sketch- Tim O' Brien

Our group chose Tim O' Brien for the character sketch. Tim goes from being a normal teenager to being drafted into the Vietnam War. He second guesses himself, but in the long run, he chooses that it is best if he serves his country. O' Brien was a brave man even when he did not want to be. He said that he would kill, and that he could possibly die all because he was embarrassed not to. Back then, men were seen as cowards for not going to war or doing things that men should do. Tim did not want to be looked down upon by his family and friends.
